Now that I am moving and trying to eat up all the food storage in my house--will be too pricey to move it--instead of listing best prices every week I will be reporting on what I had to purchase to supplement my food storage each week. I plan on tracking my savings--the difference between my grocery budget and actual expenditure--and spending it once I get to Hawaii to rebuild what I can of my food storage. My kids, however, are scheming to use the savings to buy surfboards.
This week I purchased:
I shopped at Fred Meyer and used their in-store coupons.
4 gallons of milk $9.25
4 boxes Fred Meyer Shredded Wheat $6.60
2 dozen eggs $3.30
5# Navel Oranges $2.70
Bagged Salad .98
3# Carrots $1.40
2# Sausage $4
2 2# Cheddar Cheese $7.00
2 Breyers Ice Cream $5
Grand total $50.25
This week I add $9.75 to my Hawaii food storage/savings/surfboard account for a total of $98.16. Not bad for one month. By the time we leave I'll have a good chunk of change.
This week's food storage depletion menu:
remember these are all going to be made with things already in my pantry or freezers when at all possible.
Wednesday: Chicken Pot Pie, Salad, Jello (YES, JELLO AGAIN! We have rationed out our jello and must have it at least 1-2 times per week to use it all up before we move)
Thursday: Soup, Salad and Breadsticks
Friday: Pizza Night-Hawaiian and Pepperoni
Saturday: Swedish Meatballs, veggies
Sunday: Breakfast for dinner: Grandma's old fashioned apple pancakes, bacon (went to gramma's last week for dinner and didn't have this so re-scheduled it for this week instead)
Monday: Pancit Bijon
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday--Bean and Cheese Burritos, Rice
