The big announcement:
We are moving to Hawaii.
Dave will be working at BYU Hawaii in Laie, Hawaii. Laie is located on the North Shore of Oahu and is not only the home of BYU but also the home of the Polynesian Cultural Center, the most visited tourist attraction in all of Hawaii. Despite these two large institutions Laie is able to remain a small town of about 8000 people. It is about 1 mile deep and spreads about 2 miles along the ocean shore. Everything is within walking distance of the beach.
Dave's position with the University, as I understand it, is Program Manager of Internships and Student Teaching. This is a new position at the university and it will be his job to create relationships with businesses throughout the Pacific Rim that will enable BYU-H students to get world-class internships and experience before and after graduation. He starts in May. The kids and I will hang back until they get out of school and join him at the end of June.
With the cost of living being so high there we are choosing to sell almost everything we own including house, cars, boats, furniture, books, household items, etc. so that we can rent a little place and enjoy the pace hawaiian style--simple! We are very excited about this big change but also quite nervous about all we have to get done. I met with my Realtor this morning and have a three page list of to-do's before my end of February list date.
If you are interested in helping me out PLEASE come over on Saturday morning (January 29th) and BUY MY STUFF! I will have the garage open from 9am until 3pm and will have fabric and books and furniture and toys and clothes and sports equipment and games and more. Everything that's left will go to DI or Goodwill then next week I'll have a different round of goodies. Spread the word!
