Snow Day Top 10

  1. Sleep in.
  2. Get awakened by little girls dancing around the house and banging on the window as they look out on the snow-filled yard.
  3. Go snuggle back into bed and watch news clips of cars and buses slipping, sliding and crashing on the icy snowy streets.
  4. Rummage through 4 bins of snow clothes putting together piecemeal snow outfits for 4 anxious kids.
  5. Check on the animals. Warm their water to remove ice.  Check the chicken's heat lamp.
  6. Prep tea kettle for hot cocoa on demand. Perhaps make white hot cocoa: melt 1 cup white chocolate chips in 1 cup heavy cream stirring continuously.  Add 4 cups half and half and 1 t vanilla.  Continue stirring until heated through.  Serve in warmed mugs with a dollop of whip cream on top.
  7. Prep quick and yummy snacks like candied popcorn: In a large bowl combine 2 bags popped microwave popcorn, 3 cups rice Krispies and 2 cups honey roasted peanuts. In the microwave melt 20 oz of chocolate and 3 T creamy peanut butter stirring occasionally.  Drizzle chocolate mixture over popcorn mixture and thoroughly combine.  Spread out on wax paper to cool.
  8. Place towels at and Rubbermaid buckets near the front door to collect snow soaked coats, clothes and boots.
  9. Enjoy a day full of snowmen, snowball fights and sledding.
  10. Get out a puzzle, some games or a movie for a low key evening after a fun filled day in the snow.
