Happy Labor Day!!
I'm making yummy buttermilk pancakes for breakfast this morning but opened the fridge to find . . . . . no more buttermilk.
AAAAACCCCCHHHHH!!!!!!! What's a girl to do?
When you don't have liquid or powdered buttermilk on hand you can substitute soured milk. Just add 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar to 1 cup milk and leave at room temperature for 10 minutes until thickened.
Not quite as good as the real thing but it is better than starting a perfectly good holiday morning without pancakes.
