It's that time of year again for blueberry pickin'. Pick to your hearts delight at Blueberry park in Tacoma. Be sure to get there early before it gets hot and all the berries are picked. And also be sure to take along a plastic milk jug for collecting berries. I like to cut a hole in the top of the jug for my hand to fit through (to toss in berries) and then put a belt through the handle and buckle it on around my waist. This frees up both hands for to quicken the picken'!
When you get home spread your berries out on a jelly roll pan, pick out any sticks or other undesirable items and then place the pan into the freezer. Allow the berries to remain in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until frozen solid. Carefully move all your berries into ziploc bags and return them to the freezer. Continue to do this each time you pick to build up a winter's supply of blueberries.
When you are ready to use your berries measure out the desired amount into a colander and rinse under cool water to wash your berries. And then use as directed in your recipe.
