Today it's my turn to ask you a question. I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping recently. I have had bouts of insomnia since my teen years but it is worse lately. I am tired all day but can't fall asleep when I do lay down. My legs and arms ache and twitch as I am finally relaxed enough to sleep. If I do manage to fall asleep I alternately wake up hot and cold all night long.
I do yoga regularly and stretch before going to bed to reduce the leg twitching. I have a regular bedtime and bedtime routine. I have tried sleep aids which help me get to sleep but my sleep is never restful and I always wake up groggier than I would have without.
So my question is: What are your "old wives" tricks for beating insomnia and getting more restful sleep OR getting through the day without much sleep?
